What Is FaceTite?

FaceTite is part of InMode's RFAL portfolio. RFAL stands for RadioFrequency Assisted Lipocoagulation, and InMode describes all RFAL technologies as minimally invasive devices designed to deliver tissue contraction. InMode's description of FaceTite is that it can “safely and effectively contract loose tissue in small body areas.” It is the skin tightening device Dr. Mata uses most for the face.

A small cannula, similar in size to the ones used for simple filler injections, is inserted just under the lax skin through a small incision. InMode specifies the FaceTite cannula at 10 cm long and 1.3 mm in diameter, with a plastic tip that allows physicians to work safely in the layer just beneath the skin.

FaceTite runs on InMode's IgniteRF system, which is FDA-cleared for dermatological and general surgical procedures where coagulation or contraction of soft tissue is needed.

How It Works

How FaceTite Works

Radiofrequency energy passes between the internal electrode at the cannula beneath your skin and an external electrode that stays in contact with the skin surface, heating the tissue in between to a precise temperature. InMode explains that this heats the fibrous septa and the papillary dermis, resulting in collagen contraction. The controlled thermal effect also causes the body to flood the area with collagen.

Safety is built into the handpiece. The internal electrode has an embedded temperature sensor to monitor the tissue temperature, the external electrode has its own sensor to monitor your skin temperature, and the system automatically adjusts its power to reach and control the target temperature.

InMode describes the procedure as RF thermal coagulation and contraction of the tissue beneath the skin that may be followed by aspiration of the liquefied fat. Afterward, Dr. Mata uses a liposuction cannula to remove the melted fat, so unwanted fat is removed and the skin is tightened in the same treatment.

A few timing notes from InMode: if you have had hyaluronic acid filler in the area, wait at least six months before RF treatment there, and about one week after neurotoxin. InMode notes that swelling, a tightening effect from that swelling, and immediate collagen shrinkage are seen during and after treatment, and that improvement of contour may be seen immediately.

All effects then improve gradually over 3 to 12 months. InMode's patient materials explain that skin tightening may not be fully apparent for 6 to 12 months, and that it takes 3 to 6 months before changes in skin tightening can be perceived and 12 months before final results can be appreciated.

What to Expect

Every patient heals at their own pace. These milestones reflect InMode's published guidance for FaceTite; Dr. Mata will give you personal aftercare instructions for your treatment.

Day of treatment
Return home immediately when your procedure is finished, wearing your compression garment. Fluid may drain from the small incision points for 1 to 3 days, and the dressing is changed daily.
First 2 to 3 days
Sleep with your head elevated on several pillows to help minimize swelling. Makeup may be applied after three days, avoiding the incision points.
