VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance — ultrasound technology that selectively breaks down fat cells while preserving surrounding blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. The fat is then removed with gentle suction rather than aggressive traditional liposuction.

The practical benefits: less bruising, smoother contours, better skin retraction, and the ability to treat delicate areas like the neck, arms, and chest with precision. It's also what makes high-definition sculpting (ab etching, waist contouring) possible.

Liposuction is most effective for stubborn, diet-and-exercise-resistant fat deposits in patients who are already close to their goal weight. Common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks ("love handles"), back rolls, inner and outer thighs, upper arms, under the chin, and the chest in men with gynecomastia.

What liposuction doesn't do: replace weight loss, tighten significantly loose skin, or remove cellulite. If loose skin is the primary issue, a tummy tuck or body lift may be a better path — and Dr. Mata will tell you honestly at consultation.

Recovery from liposuction is faster than most people expect — most patients are back to desk work within a week. The compression garment, worn continuously for the first two to four weeks, is critical: it minimizes swelling, shapes the final contour, and accelerates healing.

Final results emerge over three to six months as swelling resolves. Lymphatic massage can accelerate this process and is something Dr. Mata recommends for many patients.
