An Introduction

The Gladiator™ is Dr. Mata's signature procedure for men — a customizable combination of high-definition body contouring techniques designed to produce a strongly masculine, athletic silhouette. It's the male counterpart to the Scottsdale Skinny™, tailored to male anatomy and aesthetic goals.

01
The Procedure

What's Included

A standard Gladiator typically combines VASER-assisted high-definition liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, and chest with ab etching to reveal underlying musculature. Many patients add gynecomastia correction if breast tissue is present, arm liposuction for tricep definition, or fat transfer to the pectoral area for enhanced chest projection.

The exact combination is designed around your anatomy, musculature, and goals. Dr. Mata's approach is additive — starting with core contouring and building out from there based on what you want to achieve.

02
High-Def Sculpting

Abdominal Etching

Ab etching uses VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction to selectively remove fat along the natural lines of the abdominal musculature — the linea alba (center line), the semilunaris (lateral borders), and the intersections between abdominal segments. When healed, this reveals the definition of the underlying muscle.

This technique requires adequate underlying musculature — ab etching reveals what's there, it doesn't create anatomy that isn't. Patients need a baseline level of fitness for the best results.

03
Ideal Candidate

Who Benefits Most

Gladiator candidates are typically men within 15–20 pounds of their goal physique who have put in the gym work but can't get the definition their musculature deserves. Some are athletes frustrated by stubborn areas; others are former athletes wanting to restore the physique they remember.

Most patients are between 25 and 55, though there's no rigid age limit. The important factors are muscular development, skin elasticity, and realistic understanding that this procedure refines what's there — it doesn't replace fitness.

Frequently Asked

Common Questions

01How is this different from regular liposuction?+

Scope, technique, and intent. Regular liposuction removes fat from specific areas. The Gladiator uses VASER high-definition technique to reveal muscular anatomy — a fundamentally different goal. The end result should look like an athletic body, not just a leaner body.

02Do I need to be in shape already?+

Yes. Ab etching reveals existing musculature; it doesn't create it. Patients in reasonable athletic shape get dramatically better results than those relying on surgery to replace fitness. Most men do 3–6 months of focused training before surgery for this reason.

03Will the results last?+

With maintained fitness and stable weight, yes — indefinitely. Significant weight gain can obscure the result (fat gain can overlay the etched lines), but the underlying anatomic change is permanent. Most patients are motivated to maintain fitness after seeing the result.

04When can I train again?+

Cardio and lower-body lifting at week 3–4. Full chest, ab, and arm work at 6–8 weeks with clearance. The compression garment makes earlier training feel more supported than you'd expect.
