An Introduction

A Mommy Makeover at Natural Results is not a single procedure. It's a customized combination of surgeries — breast, abdomen, and often liposuction — performed in one session so you recover once. Dr. Mata designs every plan around your specific anatomy and goals.

01
The Procedure

What a Mommy Makeover Includes

A Mommy Makeover combines two or more procedures into a single operation and a single recovery period. The most common pairing is a tummy tuck with breast augmentation or breast lift, often with 360-degree liposuction to refine the waist and flanks. The exact combination is built around your anatomy.

For the breasts, options include augmentation to restore volume lost after breastfeeding, a lift to correct sagging without implants, or augmentation combined with a lift when both issues are present. For the core, the tummy tuck removes loose skin, tightens separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), and repositions the belly button. Liposuction can be added to any of these to sculpt the waist, hips, back, or thighs.

02
Our Technique

The No-Drain Advantage

Every Mommy Makeover at Natural Results uses Dr. Mata's no-drain tummy tuck closure. Progressive tension sutures eliminate the space between the abdominal wall and overlying tissue, so fluid has nowhere to collect and surgical drains are not required.

The practical benefit: you go home without drain tubes, without the daily maintenance, and typically more comfortable in the first week than traditional technique allows. It's one of the reasons patients often describe recovery as easier than they expected.

03
Candidacy

Who Is a Candidate?

Mommy Makeover candidates are typically women who have completed their family and are finished breastfeeding for at least six months, are at or near a stable weight they can maintain, and are in good overall health. Most patients are between 30 and 50, but there is no rigid age limit.

The most important factor is not age — it's readiness. You should feel settled in your decision, have realistic expectations about what surgery can and cannot do, and have the support in place to rest during recovery. Dr. Mata will walk through this honestly at consultation.

Candidacy

Is This Right For You?

You may be a candidate if...
  • Completed pregnancies and finished breastfeeding at least 6 months ago
  • At or near a stable weight you can maintain long-term
  • Generally healthy with no uncontrolled medical conditions
  • Non-smoker, or able to stop at least 6 weeks before surgery
  • Realistic expectations about what surgery does and doesn't change
  • Reliable help at home for the first week of recovery
This may not be right if...
  • Planning a future pregnancy (wait until you're done)
  • Actively breastfeeding or within 6 months of weaning
  • Significant weight still to lose (lose first for better results)
  • Active smokers unable to quit before surgery

Candidacy is ultimately a conversation. Dr. Mata will determine the right path at consultation.

What to Expect

Every patient heals at their own pace. These milestones offer a realistic roadmap based on hundreds of procedures performed by Dr. Mata.

  1. Week 1

Rest at home. Pain managed with medication. Compression garment worn continuously. Walking short distances encouraged. No drains to manage.

  2. Week 2

Most patients return to desk-based work. Still no lifting over 10 pounds. Compression garment continues. Swelling is normal and expected.

  3. Weeks 3–4

Gentle activity resumes. Most day-to-day tasks return to normal. Scar care begins. Still no core engagement or strenuous lifting.

  4. Weeks 6–8

Light exercise with Dr. Mata's clearance. Most patients return to their normal daily life. Final silhouette begins to emerge as swelling resolves.

  5. Month 3+

Full activity including strength training and core work. Final contour emerges. Scars continue to fade over 12–18 months.

Frequently Asked

Common Questions

01How long should I wait after having a baby?+

Most surgeons recommend waiting at least 6 months after you finish breastfeeding before scheduling surgery. Your body needs time to return to its post-pregnancy baseline so we're operating on stable tissue. If you're planning more children, we strongly recommend waiting until your family is complete — another pregnancy will undo much of the abdominal work.

02Can I have a Mommy Makeover if I'm still trying to lose weight?+

We generally recommend being within 10–15 pounds of your stable long-term weight before surgery. Significant weight loss after surgery can stretch out results; significant weight gain can distort them. The best candidates have been at a steady weight for 3–6 months.

03Will I have scars?+

Yes. The tummy tuck leaves a low horizontal scar that sits below the bikini line and a small scar around the repositioned belly button. Breast procedures leave scars whose location depends on the technique — inframammary (under the breast), peri-areolar (around the nipple), or anchor-pattern for lifts. Scars are permanent but fade significantly over 12–18 months with proper care.

04How is this different from getting these procedures separately?+

Combining procedures in one operation means one anesthesia event, one recovery period, and typically a lower cumulative cost than doing each separately. The trade-off is a longer initial recovery since you're healing from multiple areas at once. Most patients prefer the combined approach for this reason.

05When can I lift my kids again?+

This is the question we hear most. For the first two weeks, no lifting over 10 pounds — which usually means not lifting small children at all. Between weeks 2 and 6, light lifting returns gradually. Full activity including normal childcare typically resumes around week 6–8 with Dr. Mata's clearance.
