One of the most common questions about injectables is “What is the difference between Botox® and dermal fillers?”. “Are fillers better than Botox?” Both are injections with the same main goal: reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The neuromodulators like Botox® are reducing the muscle movement preventing the appearance and formation of wrinkles. Compared to fillers like Juvederm or Restylane that are filling the wrinkles, allowing the skin to be lifted and making the wrinkles less noticeable. Fillers are also used to add volume in certain parts of the body. They can be used on lips, cheeks, and even penis to enhance the volume of the area.
NEUROMODULATORS
Where can you use the neuromodulators?
FOREHEAD & CROW’S FEET (EYE LINES)
The most known areas injected are the forehead and crow’s feet. Injecting in these two areas allows you to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the muscles. Depending on the look you’re looking for, “frozen” (barely any muscle movement), or with “movement” (moderate muscle movement) the injector will decide the right number of injections for you. Injecting neuromodulators in the forehead can also allow you to do a brow lift, meaning by using specific injections in certain areas, your brows will be lifted.
MASSETER (CHEWING MUSCLES)
Neuromodulator injections into the masseter muscle is a great solution for patients who are grinding and clenching their teeth. It will relax the muscle and reduce the amount of grinding/clenching. It’s also used for cosmetic purposes; it helps slim down the lower part of your cheeks making you look slimmer.
LIP FLIP
Lip flip means the neuromodulator is injected right above the upper lip. It will temporarily relax the muscle causing your upper lip to roll upward slightly. Your lip will be more defined, fuller, and will not disappear when smiling.
OTHER: SWEATING & MIGRAINES
Neuromodulators can also be used to reduce migraines by injecting the products around the main head muscles and nerves. It can also reduce sweating in the armpit, head, and feet.

FILLER FOR WRINKLES – NASOLABIAL FOLD
Using fillers on wrinkles such as laugh lines or smoker lines allows the wrinkles to be less noticeable. By adding volume in those specific areas the appearance of the wrinkles is reduced.
TEAR TROUGH FILLER – UNDER EYE
Tear Trough filler is great if you have dark circles or lines under your eye. This treatment is quick and effective, restores lost volume, and reduces dark circles.
ACNE SCARRING
Using filler to treat acne scars is possible. The filler is placed underneath the acne scar. By adding volume, the skin is lifted and reduces the appearance of the scars.
