The Safer BBL surgery performed by Dr; Scottsdale® is considered an outpatient procedure and the patient is under deep sedation: breathing on their own. The Brazilian Butt Lift surgery is performed in our Scottsdale, AZ office, in our sterile surgical center.
The second step of the Safer BBL surgery is transferring the fat to the buttocks. A Safer BBL means that Dr. Scottsdale® uses special equipment like a bigger cannula to safely harvest and transfer the fat above the muscle. Transferring the fat above the muscle for a Brazilian Butt Lift is very important. It reduces the risks of complications like embolism and prevents the fat globules from leaving your buttocks areas. For better and bigger results, especially for patients that want a big buttock like Kim Kardashian, Dr. Mata uses a Pneumodissector. This equipment facilitates tissue dissection by releasing short bursts of carbon dioxide. Meaning it helps make more room to add more fat, it’s safe and effective.
The butt lift surgery lasts on average 3 hours depending on the number of areas that need to be liposuctioned.
After surgery, a compression garment is worn to help with the swelling and also assist in the contouring of the buttocks. Lymphatic massages are recommended for a faster recovery. The patient is advised to not sit or lay down directly on your buttocks for two weeks. BBL pillows or regular pillows are recommended to elevate your buttocks. The goal is to prevent any pressure on the fat leaving your results intact. The patients are advised to avoid exercising for at least 6 weeks. Final results, after the swelling and bruising have subsided, usually can be seen within 6 — 8 weeks.
Gaining or losing weight for surgery is not recommended, unless you are able to maintain it after surgery. For example, if you gain weight for a BBL but cannot maintain it, you might lose weight and your results will be altered.
Fat can be removed from different body parts, but the main areas are the abdomen, flanks, and back. Up to 5 liters can be removed via liposuction, and on average Dr. Mata transfers 1,000cc of fat per butt cheek during a Brazilian Butt Lift surgery.
Patients are advised to not sit, lie, sleep or put direct pressure on their buttocks for a minimum of two weeks following their BBL surgery using BBL pillows and providing support on your lower back and thighs can help you elevate your buttocks and prevent pressure on them.
Expect to lose about 20% of your BBL results. You will lose the extra fluids (tumescent), and dead fat cells.
The ideal candidates for this procedure are those who are at or very close to their goal weight. Both significant weight gain or loss will compromise the results of the surgery. Patients who have had this procedure should stick to a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise.
Many patients opt for fat transfers because they feel it is more safe and natural. For some, they are simply not comfortable with implants or a foreign device placed in their buttocks. When choosing whether to go natural or with implants, it’s important to understand the pros and cons of each. The one disadvantage of fat transfers is that the injected fat may be naturally reabsorbed into the body over time, which means that a second surgery could become necessary later on in order to maintain max results. Implants are a permanent solution so patients will need to consider the long-term effects of surgery carefully.
