What Is Buffalo Hump?
Buffalo hump is a fatty lump that forms between the shoulder blades at the juncture of the upper back and the base of the neck. It is medically known as a dorsocervical fat pad and is often a symptom rather than a disease.
There are several potential reasons someone may develop a buffalo hump — including certain medications, excess weight gain, an underlying medical condition, poor posture, and osteoporosis.
