A breast revision is a surgical procedure performed to fix or enhance the results of a previous breast augmentation, lift, or reduction. Our surgeons address problems like capsular contracture, implant malposition, implant shape or size dissatisfaction, or asymmetry. The end goal is an enhanced appearance and more natural-looking breasts. Dr. Mata offers a range of breast revision procedures to suit each patient. These include implant removal or replacement, implant repositioning, scar tissue removal, and breast tissue reshaping. Incisions might be made around the areola (the pigmented area surrounding the nipple), below the breast in its natural crease line, or within or near any previous scars. All of them aim to make subsequent scarring as minimal as possible.
Dr. Mata performs capsulectomies to eliminate the scar tissue capsules that can form around breast implants, a condition known as capsular contracture. This can make the breasts painful, hard, or distorted. They skillfully remove the capsule(s) and may also replace implants if needed or wished for. Marking and Anesthesia: On the day of the surgery, our expert carefully identifies and marks the areas on the patient’s breasts where incisions will be made. Closing the Incisions: After achieving the desired shape and placement of the breasts during surgery, Dr. Mata or Dr. Benjamin uses sutures to close the incisions. The length of time for the entire procedure is usually between two to four hours. Still, it can vary based on how complicated the revision is.
Following the surgery, our patients are brought to our comfortable post-operation area. Our team carefully monitors their health throughout their transition from being under anesthesia to wakefulness. It is expected to have some swelling, bruising, and tenderness after surgery. We recommend applying surgical dressings to the incisions and wearing a supportive surgical bra to minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal.
