Our No-Drain Tummy Tuck Procedure

Tumescent

Once the patient is comfortably asleep, Dr. Mata administers tumescent local anesthesia to numb the entire abdomen. This technique minimizes bleeding and promotes a quicker recovery for the patient.

Incisions

In a full tummy tuck, the surgeon makes a horizontal incision just above the pubic area and a circular incision around the belly button to free it from the surrounding skin. These incisions allow the doctor to access the abdominal muscles and fat. The length of the cuts depends on the extent of the correction that needs to be made. A mini tummy tuck requires a shorter horizontal incision. The belly button is not repositioned.

Muscle Tightening

Through the lower incision, the surgeon can use sutures to repair abdominal muscles, making the belly look flatter. This procedure helps to reduce post-pregnancy deformities.

Skin Removal

Excess skin is trimmed away from the lower and upper abdomen.

NO drain Tummy Tuck Technique

The surgeon uses progressive tension sutures to close the gap between the abdominal wall and tissue, preventing fluid build-up. This allows us to avoid surgical drains. Progressive tension sutures pull in the abdominal tissue tightly to minimize potential spaces where fluid could accumulate. This technique allows for drainage-free recovery after a tummy tuck.

Closing Incisions

Once the muscles have been repaired and excess skin removed, the surgeon closes the incisions with sutures and possibly tape or glue. The belly button is repositioned through the circular incision.
