An Introduction

A patient of any age with gynecomastia may be embarrassed when their chest is uncovered. Gynecomastia is a male condition that produces swelling and enlarged breast tissue, making them look more feminine. This is caused by a hormonal imbalance — often starting in puberty and lasting into adulthood. Male breast reduction surgery by Scottsdale board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Carlos Mata can correct gynecomastia by reshaping the chest for a more masculine appearance. In the operating room, Scottsdale Gynecomastia specialist Dr. Carlos Mata (a.k.a. Dr. Scottsdale®) uses a minimally invasive approach — Vaser Liposuction (an ultrasound technique) and the one-stitch technique — to reduce the appearance of scars. Magic Tight® can also be added to the procedure to treat and prevent skin laxity.

01
The Technique

One-Stitch Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia by Dr. Scottsdale® means almost no one will be able to notice you had surgery done. The scars are hidden and smaller than a pinky. The procedure is done under IV conscious sedation (light sedation) or deep sedation (breathing on your own) in our surgical office in Scottsdale, AZ. The procedure is an overall chest transformation including:

1 — Tumescent Vaser Liposuction — Dr. Mata's three-step technique. First, tumescent: a numbing solution used to numb the entire chest to control bleeding and reduce pain during and after surgery. Second, Vaser: an ultrasound device that breaks down fat cells and breast tissue, allowing only one small incision to be needed to remove the breast tissue. Third: gentle removal of the broken-down tissue.

2 — One-Stitch Incision — Dr. Mata makes one small incision near the areola and removes the unwanted tissue and fat. The incision is barely noticeable and very easily hidden.

3 — Magic Tight® Add-On (optional) — Magic Tight® can be added to the procedure to address and prevent skin laxity, especially when significant tissue removal is involved.
