About Dr. Carlos Mata aka Dr. Scottsdale®

Dr. Carlos Mata, aka Dr. Scottsdale®, is a bilingual Harvard-trained board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon 
in Scottsdale, AZ. He believes in “Be your OWN kind of beautiful” meaning taking the personal image of “beautiful” in his patient’s eyes and bringing it to life through surgical sculpting. Dr. Mata also believes in giving back, every year he goes on medical mission trips in third world countries to help those in need.

Skills

Dr. Carlos Mata is skilled in facial aesthetic procedures such as brow lifts, eyelid surgery, nose surgery, and full and mini facelifts. He also performs, in his surgical center in Scottsdale, AZ, breast augmentation, breast lift, and breast reduction surgeries. Dr. Scottsdale® is well-known for body contouring procedures, such as tummy tucks, liposuction, mommy makeover, Brazilian Butt Lift, and after weight-loss surgeries. He also offers skin rejuvenation treatments, injectables, skin tightening, sexual enhancement, and much more non-surgical services.
His philosophy emphasizes compassionate care, service beyond expectation, and the strongest desire to do what is best for his patients. He believes that every patient is special and unique. Dr. Mata will always preserve the privacy and dignity of all his patients while delivering first-class results.

Education

After graduating with cum laude honors from Texas A&M with a degree in biomedical science, Dr. Mata earned an M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he received Alpha Omega Alpha honors.
Dr. Mata received his prestigious plastic surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Saint Joseph Medical Center, and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, as well Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.
While performing thousands of procedures at these institutions, Dr. Mata also trained in Miami, FL focusing on aesthetic surgery with the world’s leading experts in rhytidectomy (facelift), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and breast surgery (augmentations, reductions, and lifts) as well as detailed teaching in the fine art of injectables (BOTOX, dermal fillers, and more).
Dr. Mata has also trained in several Children’s Hospitals, such as Children’s Hospital Boston, MA, Dell Children Medical Center in Austin, TX, and Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX.
He obtained a fellowship in craniofacial surgery in an esteemed institution that would have included time in Paris, France. However, the United States government needed Dr. Mata sooner than anticipated. He became a Major in the United States Army practicing at Eglin Air Force Base as the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
His special training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX taught him the skills necessary to treat America’s wounded warriors and their families.

Born in Erie, PA, Dr. Mata grew up enjoying and playing intramural basketball and football. He has an eagerness to try new activities and make new friends. Dr. Mata speaks fluent Spanish and loves to travel the world for medical mission trips to perform cleft lip and palate surgeries for children, as well as offer his services to reconstruct congenital anomalies.
