An Introduction

Serving Fountain Hills, AZ - patients reach Dr. Carlos Mata's North Scottsdale office in approximately 22 to 32 minutes via Shea Boulevard east (about 14 miles). Gynecomastia is a medical condition where male breast tissue enlarges. It can affect one or both breasts, sometimes asymmetrically, often leading to emotional distress and self-consciousness. Causes are varied, hormonal imbalances (an increase in estrogen or decrease in testosterone), certain medications, underlying health problems (liver or kidney disease), obesity, and age-related changes. About 50-60% of adolescent males experience some form of gynecomastia during puberty, and in adult males the prevalence is around 20-30%. Men in Scottsdale experiencing gynecomastia can find effective treatments and support locally, Dr. Carlos Mata offers male breast reduction using a minimally invasive approach with Vaser Liposuction and the one-stitch technique to minimize scarring.

Diagnosis

How Do You Know If You Have Gynecomastia?

It's important to distinguish between gynecomastia and pseudogynecomastia (false gynecomastia), where excess fat, rather than breast tissue, causes the enlargement. During initial consultations for gynecomastia treatment, Dr. Mata differentiates between the two using tests or physical exams.

The Technique

One-Stitch Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia by Dr. Scottsdale® means that almost no one will be able to notice you had surgery done. The scars are hidden and smaller than a pinky. The procedure is done in our surgical office in Scottsdale, AZ. The procedure is an overall chest transformation including:

1. Tumescent Vaser Liposuction. Dr. Mata's three-step technique. First, tumescent: a numbing solution used to numb the entire chest to control bleeding and reduce pain during and after surgery. Second, Vaser: an ultrasound device that breaks down fat cells and breast tissue, allowing the surgeon to use only one small incision. Third: gentle removal of the broken-down tissue.

2. One-Stitch Incision. Dr. Mata makes one small incision near the areola and removes the unwanted tissue and fat. The incision is barely noticeable and very easily hidden.

3. Magic Tight® Add-On. Magic Tight® can be incorporated into the procedure to address and prevent skin laxity, especially when significant tissue removal is involved.
