Pre-Operative Marking. Dr. Mata carefully marks the patient's arms, identifying areas of excess fat deposits and ensuring symmetry. These guidelines help achieve optimal contours.
Anesthesia. Dr. Mata always performs arm liposuction surgery under deep sedation to ensure the patient is pain-free and comfortable. This approach helps us avoid the risks of general anesthesia.
Incision Placement. Several small incisions — less than 0.2 inches long — are strategically placed in natural skin folds or inconspicuous arm areas. Common locations include the elbow crease and near the armpit. These tiny incisions serve as access points for the infiltration and liposuction cannulas.
Tumescent Fluid Infiltration. A solution of saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine is injected into the treatment zone through the small incisions. This fluid numbs the area, reduces bleeding, and makes fat removal easier. The tissue becomes swollen and firm ("tumescent").
Liposuction. Using a cannula connected to a vacuum device, Dr. Mata carefully removes excess fat through a back-and-forth motion. Different sizes and types of devices may be used depending on the area being treated, maintaining smooth, natural-looking contours and ensuring symmetry between both arms. Technologies used: VASER for ultrasonic-assisted liposuction and MicroAire PAL for power-assisted liposuction.
Final Contouring & Closure. Once the desired amount of fat is removed, Dr. Mata performs final sculpting to check for evenness and symmetry. The small incisions are typically closed with a single suture or left open to allow drainage, and they usually heal with minimal scarring. Compression garments are applied before the patient leaves the operating room.
