Liposuction is an outpatient procedure performed under deep sedation in our surgical center in Scottsdale, AZ. Depending on the area(s) treated, the procedure may last 30 minutes to 4 hours. It can be done alone or combined.
1, Tumescent Liposuction , The surgeon injects a special solution below the skin to swell target areas, making it easier to remove fat. The tumescent solution is composed of intravenous saline, a local anesthetic called lidocaine, and epinephrine. It numbs the area, contracts blood vessels to minimize bleeding, and expands fat tissue. As a result, patients experience less bleeding and recover faster.
2, Ultrasonic-Assisted (VASER) Liposuction , VASER uses ultrasonic energy to melt fat. A specialized cannula transmits ultrasonic waves through the tissue, which vibrate fat cells intensely until their walls break down. Once fat has liquefied, it can be suctioned with less damage to other tissues, making fat removal more effective.
