Instantly restore volume in the cheeks for more youthful facial contours with Voluma. It is manufactured by the same company behind Juvéderm with the same hyaluronic acid base, and board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Carlos Mata, treats patients with Voluma on a regular basis. To delay the signs of aging without surgery, volume is replenished with this injectable filler in the cheek area, giving an appearance of rounder, shapelier cheeks. Voluma is directly injected around the hollows of the cheeks, which reduces wrinkles and creases. It is also used as an alternative to silicone-based fillers for cheek augmentation for individuals who have naturally flat cheeks.
"I had two procedures done earlier this year by Dr. Mata. The tummy tuck was in January 2016 and following after in February, thigh lift. After working out so many years, it was the excess skin and fat I had removed. For all my future procedures and for friends and family, I definitely recommend Dr. Mata. Growing up with physicians in my family ( my mother was a Pediatrician), he has a wonderful disposition very reminiscent of the days when doctors cared and took all the time you needed to address concerns. Dr. Mata also made sure I was mentally prepared for the procedures and was 100% transparent with what I can expect. It's not a form of weight loss, but body sculpting. He has a very nurturing way about him as well. My healing experience has been the most positive under his care and the care of the staff. You are given written directions and the nurses will answer any questions you have. After the procedures, of course, new clothes feel great in smaller sizes, but it's not seeing the unwanted skin and fat, always getting larger sizes to disguise my trouble spots that brings me happiness. I have no regrets. I highly recommend Dr. Mata and I'm so grateful. My arms are next! :-)"- L.N. / Google / Jul 06, 2016

What to Expect
Voluma is injected into the skin with fine needles, so some patients may experience some minor pain from the initial prick. Numbing creams may be applied on the injection site to ease the patient’s discomfort. Patients also have the option to use lidocaine, which is mixed with the Voluma solution, to help provide anesthetic effects in and around the area. A treatment cost $800 per syringe and may last from 10 minutes to 1 hour. Patients will be able to return to daily activities after several hours. There may be some swelling, discoloration and tenderness around the cheeks, but will subside after a few days. Results are readily evident, and may last up to 2 years.
Is Hyaluronic Acid Natural?
Hyaluronic acid, Voluma’s main ingredient, is derived from natural substances found in the human body. Its main function is cell hydration, and with its cross-linking abilities, it is generally useful in helping facial areas that lack volume. Over time, the gel substance breaks down and is absorbed naturally by the body without any side effects.
Those who seek improved volume in the cheeks may consider Voluma as a noninvasive solution. The lack of cheek volume may be due to aging or the patient’s natural facial structure. The doctor will be able to recommend if Voluma is the best option during the initial consultation.
How Long Is Recovery?
Right after treatment, patients will be able to resume to their normal routine with restriction on strenuous activities or any movement that may put pressure on the treated area. It may take up to 1 week before the derma filler settles within the cheek pockets.
Among derma fillers available in the market today, Voluma may last up to 2 years or longer. Reinjection varies as patients’ bodies process and break down hyaluronic acid at different rates.
